Here Comes Charity Drive!

Friday, February 5th is the day! Charity Drive starts at Tillamook High School. Our big sign is up in the main gym. Check it out...it's a "confetti theme" and it's awesome! A big thank you to all of the students that stayed late and glued letters on and cut the confetti. We had fun (?) hanging the signs on Thursday night. Logan, Emily, Kennady, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Schwend helped us get those huge pieces of paper up on the gym wall. Between tangled gobs of tape and checking to see if everything was straight and attached, we had a lot of laughs. Thanks crew for a fun evening. One thing I know for sure, don't trust me with the tape. Kara Rhodes had to fix my entanglement in the tape department! The letters shine on the sign, thanks to Kim Durrer's Cricket Machine. Everyone got in on running the machine and attaching the letters. It was slow going at first, but absolutely worth it.

Bill Baertlein is heading up the concessions and is making his calls and organizing the "grand opening" on Friday night at the BB game. Our CheeseMan Gear has been ordered. Get ready to purchase a t-shirt or sweatshirt with the vintage CheeseMan and benefit the Freshman Class. They'll make great gifts, that's for sure.

Lisa McKibbin is taking students around to gather awesome Silent Auction items. If you have anything to donate or know of someone that might offer an item or a service, please contact Lisa McKibbin or us at the high school.

Do not buy groceries during the Charity Drive! Delicious dinners are being planned and, let me tell you, we have great organizers! Turkey, Ham, BBQ & Chili will make perfect dinners during the drive. Invite all of your family and friends to attend as well. Dinners are one of the main ways we will raise funds! If you want to help, please call and we will match you up with a dinner! Serving...clean up...supervising the kids can be a real blast!

Well, gotta run...once again, thank you for allowing us to work with your students. They are a fine group of young people and yeah...they ROCK!
Shelley

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://tillahiclassof2013.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html#2579255578956455804' title='Oh My! One whole week off of school. Thanksgiving Break is November 23-27. Parent Teacher Conferences are held at the beginning of the week. Our class pulled together and dressed up, which earned us a lot of points. We showed well in the class games and it soon became the talk of the school that the Freshman just might be able to take Homecoming. It came down to the class skits on Friday to really see which class had it together. We had worked very hard on our class skit about the Princess and the Philomath Warriors. Ms. Rhodes and Ms. Hurliman worked with us developing the skit and Ms. Durrer worked with the team for class cheer. Our skit went well and we received great buzz about it. We wondered what the final point total would be.

At the Homecoming football game, our Princess, Kara Moore represented us well. When the results were revealed, it was stated that this was the closest Homecoming point totals in years between first and second. ASB Officers Kyle Fetzer, Trevor Scott, Elder Bravo and Josh Haymond announced fourth place, then third without mentioning the Freshman. In the end, we earned SECOND place with the Seniors winning Homecoming. We were so proud to know that we almost won Homecoming!

In the Beginning...

There was a class of kids from Junior High School that showed up at the doorstep of Tillamook High School. Not sure what they were supposed to do, they gathered together in the hallways, looking nervous, shy, scared...take your pick. They carried their backpacks and books to their classrooms and met their new teachers. They wondered what new and foreign adventures awaited them in this new experience called HIGH SCHOOL. Sophomores looked at them and were glad they weren't lowly Freshman anymore. Juniors and Seniors wondered if they really looked that young when they first came to THS. Only Freshman...the babies of the school. Nothing much is expected out of Freshman when it comes to activities. They have to get their "feet wet" and learn the ropes.

Then we had our first Pep Assembly with a Cheer-Off. President Nathan McRae led the Frosh class in the school cheer. As the stomping began and the cheer turned into a mighty roar, it was plain to see that this Freshman Class was a contender! The look of amazement on the faces of the upper classmen quickly changed to respect. They instantly knew that this Freshman class was different. They had spirit and determination with a lot of class pride! Way to go!
